The vulnerability of excluded communities and groups is characterized as insecurity in the well-being of the face of uncertainties to earn steadily to ensure basic necessities like health, nutrition, education and shelter. People on the fringes move in and out of poverty because of the lack of a steady source of income which is in turn because of lack of employable or income generating skills as well as opportunities. Livelihood strategies aim to achieve livelihood outcomes. Decisions on livelihood strategies may invoke natural-resource based activities, non-natural resource based and off-farm activities, etc. Potential livelihood outcomes can include more income, increased well-being, reduced vulnerability, improved food security, more sustainable use of the natural resource base, and recovered human dignity.
Towards promoting these goals FourX4 has engaged itself in skill training and capacity building of people as well as assisting organisations in evolving suitable intervention programmes through concurrent assessment of their programmes and continuous hand holding.
